Abortion A young women who just recently married at the age of 24 is six months along in her pregnancy. By her eighth month, she has came across complications. Within one week, they continue to get progressively worse. She is eventually rushed to the hospital. There her symptoms are studied by medical professionals. She soon is told that her complications are so severe that they might cost her her life. She is now faced with a choice. A medical dilemma of saving her life with the use of an abortion, or the moral dilemma of saving her childs life. What is right? In the U.S. about 1.6 million pregnancies end in abortion. A majority of women in America with an income below 11,000 are 3 times more likely to abort their unborn child†¦show more content†¦Some Americans feel that there should be restrictions to follow. About 40 percent of all Americans feel that abortion should remain legal. The other 40 percent believe it should be thrown out except when the pregnancy is life threatening or the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest. There is also a seperate 15 percent that feel it should be illegal all together.(2) Abortion is considered murder by half of all Americans. Many pro-life activists feel that the miricale of human life begins at the moment of conception. When the connection is made between the egg and the sperm, they become fertilized and create a â€Å"zygote†. A zygote is made up of 46 chromosomes which is required for creating a human life. Scientists say from the moment of fertilization the zygote takes on an entirely different destiny. This creation is nothing less than a new human life at its eariler stages in life.(2) Half of Americans feel that allowing abortion to be legal is immoral. Many Pro-Choice activists defend it with the comments of â€Å" Women have the choice to control their own bodies.† Yet as a form of human life it seems as though that the embryo should get that chance as well.
